Why Intrepid?
Intrepid simply put means “fearless” it symbolizes perseverance and the spirit of one that can not be broken by adversity, but one who looks at adversity as an opportunity for growth.
-
How is it different?
As my career progressed it became more apparent that there is a lack of strengthening within rehabilitation. Intrepid aims to fix that.
Here you will find a rehabilitation approach that is supported by strength training techniques and concepts.
The best way to prevent injury is to understand how your body moves and have the strength to support it. So why wouldn’t you take that same approach when recovering from an injury?
Intrepid’s goal is to bridge the gap between traditional rehabilitation and strength training, with the ultimate goal being to foster your independence and confidence so you feel empowered to continue your strength journey through Intrepid or where ever serves your needs best. At minimum we want to be your spring board into a new chapter of strength and general wellness.
Intrepid does have a strong focus in athletics, amateur to professional. However we are capable of meeting you where ever you are at in your journey and moving forward from there.

Meet
Jess
Jess truly believes she is a product of her family, so while she grew up mostly in West Virginia they always instilled in her to explore the world and seek out learning opportunities. That mentality has taken her many places to learn from some very skilled and esteemed professionals.
She completed her BS of Athletic Training at West Virginia Wesleyan. During her time in undergrad she was fortunate enough to participate in a study abroad program, through University of Georgia, in Taiwan where she was able to take a deep dive into traditional medicine practices, how it works and how it couples with western medicine practices. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California. With the concept of continual growth and learning in mind, she went on to complete her orthopeadic residency at Northwestern University.
During her clinical practice it seemed that there was a divide between rehabilitation and strengthening. Driving her to incorporate more strength components as the foundation of her rehab programs. This approach has allowed her to combine her loves of strength training and rehabilitation while helping to elevate peak performance. Thus Intrepid was born.
Jess’s primary focus is athletics working with amateur to professional across all major leagues.
Fundamentals
-
Strength
It all starts by learning how strong your body actually is, what it can do under load. This is the foundation of movement.
-
Mobility
This goes hand in hand with strength, we must learn how to maintain strength through full range of motion as well as ensure our range and mobility is always supported by strength.
-
Motor Control
This is where everything comes together, mobility, strength, power all work together to perform a goal activity or movement. This is the hallmark of strength and control.
